The Purpose of this blog will be for me from time to time to address issues related to ballistics and Body Armor.
You can expect discussion of topics such as the "History and Evolution of Body Armor"
"10 Things you need to know about modern Body Armor" and "How to care for Modern Body Armor."
I will be posting soon a comparison of the the Current NIJ Int. 05 Body Armor Standard and the "Draft" proposed NIJ 06 Standard.
We are currently investigating what can be expected by these proposed changes.
I hope to provide you with "realistic" information regarding:
1. Testing costs for the new std.
2. The effect these proposed changes may have on some materials currently in use.
3. The effect these proposed changes may have on the current weight of Body Armor.
4. The effect these proposed changes may have on the cost of Body Armor.
Keep in mind, these will be my opinions based on 27 years experience. My opinions are not intended to be offensive or inflamatory.
They will simply be a reasonable examination of the events leading up to the changes and the effects these changes may potentially have.
I have had the privaledge to work with many involved in this process over the years. I recognize and respect the desire of all involved to better protect the men and women who serve in our Law Enforcement and Military communities.
